Alex Henderson
Intern Counsellor
Hi, I’m Alex, a counselling psychology student who is passionate about helping all sorts of folks navigate life’s challenges with empathy and understanding. My approach is client-centered, collaborative, and grounded in fostering trust and empowerment through the work we do in therapy. My goal is to meet you where you are at and to work together to help you to cultivate a sense of purposeful calm and hopeful emotional flexibility within your life. My approach is grounded in trauma-informed and anti-oppressive thinking and follows the philosophy of holism which to me means seeing people in their entirety; as unique and complex beings that exist within our own specific context. Whether you are looking for help with a crisis or wish to explore and unpack the events of your life I am excited to join you on your therapeutic journey!
My own experiences have helped me to develop an approach that borrows from several therapeutic modalities and incorporates focuses on the cognitive, emotional and physical aspects of your lived experience. I operate from a place of genuine curiosity and hope to join you in exploring your life in a welcoming and non-judgemental environment. With a strong therapeutic alliance and a sense of humor I hope to help you get to a place that feels comfortable and allows you to live your life in a way that both honours where you have been and helps you move forward towards where you want to go.
